 “HAVE YOU GOT…?” / “DO YOU HAVE…?”

Não se subtrai o verbo auxiliar. O termo correto é “omitir”, e isso não é privilégio do inglês britânico. Os americanos também o fazem, talvez até mais que os ingleses. Have you got the time? ou Do you have the time? Tanto faz. São duas formas diferentes de dizer. É só isso. Sem segredo.

Por que no inglês britânico o verbo auxiliar do é subtraído? Geralmente, leio textos em inglês em que se diz algo do tipo Have you got the time?, sem usar o do.

Ao dizer Have you got the time to study English? ou Do you have the time to improve your English?, você está dizendo exatamente a mesma coisa.
